According to the company's data, the work under the second package is being carried out by the general contractor — the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).
“The parallel reconstruction of two hydro units — No. 1 and No. 2 is scheduled for 2026. This will accelerate the modernization process and increase the project's efficiency. Preparatory and engineering work on both units has already begun,” the statement notes.
Work on the reconstruction of hydro unit No. 2 will begin on February 1, 2026, while the start date for hydro unit No. 1 is set for March 1, 2026.
“Currently, work is being carried out on welding the stator rods of hydro unit No. 2 and assembling the rotor spokes with defect detection control. At the same time, project preparation for hydro unit No. 1 is underway,” the press service added.
As a result of 2025, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP will be increased by 18 MW, and by the end of 2026, the total increase in installed capacity will amount to 36 MW.
