Political scientist Bakytbek Zhumagulov noted in an interview with IA "Kabar" that the president's appeal to the Constitutional Court helped avoid a constitutional crisis.
He emphasized that the actions of the head of state were necessary to resolve the situation that could have divided society.
It should be reminded that some political figures raised the issue of the presidential term limits and demanded early elections, while another group of experts and politicians argues that there are no legal grounds for unscheduled voting.
“In conditions of such confrontation, it is important that decisions are made not based on political pressure or emotions, but exclusively within the framework of the law. The final conclusion on such issues should be made by none other than the Constitutional Court, which is intended to resolve such conflicts,” Zhumagulov noted.
According to him, the sooner a clear and legally correct explanation is provided, the less likely it is that this issue will become a tool for political manipulation during the election period.
In this situation, the president's position on preventing a constitutional crisis appears reasonable from a political standpoint. However, the stability of the state is achieved not only through political decisions but also through a transparent legal process that will be recognized by society, political leaders, activists, and international partners.
At the moment, the main task is to reduce tension, eliminate mutual accusations, and transfer the issue to a legal plane. Any attempt to turn a legal dispute into a political conflict increases the risk of instability,” concluded Bakytbek Zhumagulov.
