The signing ceremony of the agreement between OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" and the company "BBAM Aircraft Leasing & Management" took place at the President's Administration. Under this agreement, Kyrgyzstan is acquiring two aircraft of the "Airbus A321ceo" model.

Signatures on the document were placed by Manasbek Samidinov, Chairman of the Board of OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan," and Steve Zissis, CEO of "BBAM Aircraft Leasing & Management."

In his speech, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that the agreements reached reflect the level of trust and open dialogue between the parties, as well as the desire to work for the long term. He added that the introduction of modern aircraft will help elevate the civil aviation of Kyrgyzstan to a new level.

“I thank you for your support in implementing initiatives to modernize our country's air fleet. Previously, the development of the aviation sector was slow due to insufficient support; however, significant changes have been observed in recent years. The establishment of the State Agency for Civil Aviation under the Cabinet of Ministers at the initiative of President Sadyr Japarov has been an important step for the industry,” noted Kasymaliev.

He also reported that from 2021 to 2025, the number of passengers served at airports on domestic and international flights increased by 52%, and the number of completed flights increased by 53%. While in 2021 there were only 5 airports operating in the country, now all airports in the republic are functioning.

“According to audits conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2023-2024, it has been confirmed that Kyrgyzstan's aviation system meets international standards. The latest audit showed an aviation safety effectiveness level of 85.76%, which is a significant improvement compared to previous data. These successes open up the possibility of removing Kyrgyzstan from the European Union's Safety List. A final audit from the European Commission is expected in the coming days, which is an important step towards achieving this goal,” he added.

President of "Airbus Europe" Johan Pelissier expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that dialogue with representatives of the Kyrgyz aviation industry has been established, which contributes to the successful implementation of joint projects. He also confirmed the readiness to continue cooperation for the further development of aviation in Kyrgyzstan.

It is important to note that the "Airbus A321ceo" aircraft will be handed over to OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" at the end of 2026. This acquisition aims to support the national carrier "Asman Airlines," which is a subsidiary of OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan," as well as to enhance passenger comfort, improve flight safety, and expand the geography of air services.

The record Kyrgyzstan is purchasing two "Airbus A321ceo" aircraft was first published on K-News.
