A resident of Kyzyl-Kiya, Urmatai A., has challenged the court's decision in a domestic violence case, in which her husband, B.Yu., is accused of regular beatings that led to serious injuries.

The incident that prompted her to contact law enforcement occurred on January 12, 2026. The woman claims that her husband beat her, resulting in a ruptured eardrum, and she was forced to leave the house with her four children.

“In 2024, he broke my jaw, but I forgave him then. In December 2025, he beat me again, and I couldn’t leave the house for a whole week. Now he has damaged my ear. The court sentenced him to only 48 hours of community service. I do not agree with this decision and have appealed it to the regional court, but the verdict remained the same. The process is dragging on, and my husband continues to work as if nothing happened,” Urmatai shared her concerns.

The press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Batken region confirmed that on January 13, 2026, Urmatai contacted the Kyzyl-Kiya City Police Department. The fact of domestic violence was registered in the electronic journal, and a protection order was issued to the woman.

As a result of the investigation, law enforcement agencies refused to initiate a criminal case, citing the absence of a crime. However, signs of an administrative offense were identified, and a protocol was drawn up against the 33-year-old husband, Y.B., under Article 70 (“Domestic Violence”) of the Code of Offenses, with the case materials submitted to the court.

The Kyzyl-Kiya City Court sentenced the man to 48 hours of community service.

The police noted that the family is on preventive registration and under the supervision of the relevant services. It was reported that the requirements of the protection order were not violated.
