Nurtilek Orozbaev has resigned from the position of mayor of Kara-Kul, located in the Jalal-Abad region.

According to information received from Turmush, Orozbaev decided to leave the post of city head voluntarily, writing a corresponding statement.

Kara-Kul is a city of regional subordination, and personnel changes in this position are approved by the president. However, there is currently no information on whether the president has signed an order to remove Orozbaev from office.

On March 26, a farewell ceremony for Nurtilek Orozbaev was held at the Kara-Kul mayor's office, during which he was presented with traditional headwear — a chepken and an ak kalpak.

Nurtilek Orozbaev was appointed mayor of Kara-Kul in August 2024. President Sadyr Japarov signed the decree on this on August 26, resulting in Talaybek Konkobaev being relieved of his duties.

_____________

The city of Kara-Kul, located in a picturesque valley among the mountains, was founded in the 1960s and is famous for its artificial lakes: Pioneer and Komsomol, as well as the "Karier" dam on the Kain dy River.

The history of Kara-Kul begins on June 16, 1962, when it was established as a settlement for workers building the Toktogul Hydropower Station — the largest hydro facility in the region. At that time, the settlement was unofficially called Komsomolsk-on-Naryn.

On October 26, 1962, it was officially renamed Kara-Kul and was classified as an urban-type settlement by the decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.

A key moment in the city's development came on January 7, 1977, when it was transformed into a city of regional subordination according to the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR, making it part of the Osh region.

In the following years, several administrative changes occurred:

- On September 3, 1980, after the creation of the Talas region, Kara-Kul became part of it according to the decree of the Presidium of the Kyrgyz SSR.

- On December 14, 1990, with the formation of the Jalal-Abad region, Kara-Kul became part of the new region in accordance with the law "On the Improvement of the Regional Division of the Kyrgyz SSR."

In June 2002, according to the resolution of the Legislative Assembly of the Jogorku Kenesh and the government decree, the city's name became official — Kara-Kul.

- In June 2008, after the restoration of the hyphenated spelling of place names, the city was given back its familiar spelling Kara-Kul.

Today, Kara-Kul continues its development as an important regional center, surrounded by stunning nature and located near the Toktogul Reservoir, under the Kok-Bel pass.
