According to legend, in the 12th century, Genghis Khan's gold was brought here on about 300 camels and hidden in a cave. Some local residents say that the gold is buried along with the camels. In this area, on the slope of the mountain, there is a spring. According to some reports, to ensure that there was a master here, a bull was slaughtered and its blood was sprinkled on the ground. During the Soviet era, excavations were conducted here, but after some time, the work was halted. Recently, for about 15 years, some citizens have been conducting excavations in search of gold.
“For more than 10 years, excavations have been carried out in this area in search of gold. This site is a mysterious land because it is said that people and camels are buried here along with the gold. Also, many snakes can be found in this area,” local residents say.
In addition, local elders reported that a book made of gold and precious stones are hidden in this area.
Turmush reported that in 2007, Aman Egemberdiev gathered a team to search for Genghis Khan's treasures. Work continues on Mount Bet Karagay, which is located between the villages of Ak-Bulak and Kurmenty.
The head of the Ak-Bulak rural administration, Erlan Orozbekov, reported that a delegation led by akim Ishen Kozhaliev visited the excavation site but could not meet with Egemberdiev, as he was in the cave. Since 2007, the excavations have reached a depth of about 15 meters.
The workers on the surface noted that they all come from the Tyup district.
Mamyrbek Ularbekov, a resident of Tasma who has been working in the team for the last two years, stated that everyone unanimously claims that there is a high probability of finding treasure in this area.
