Scientists named a simple way to quickly reduce anxiety levels
The study involved 144 adults suffering from moderate anxiety and receiving medication treatment. Participants were divided into several groups: one group listened to "pink noise," while another listened to music with rhythmic sound effects of varying durations. The level of anxiety and emotional state of the participants were assessed before and after the sessions using standard psychological tests.
The most noticeable effect was demonstrated by the 24-minute session. It contributed to a reduction in both psychological and physical manifestations of anxiety and proved to be as effective as longer sessions, but significantly surpassed the 12-minute option. Music without rhythmic elements did not yield similar results.
The authors of the study emphasize that this method could become a useful addition to traditional treatment. Music therapy does not require the use of medications, has virtually no side effects, and can be effectively applied for quick relief of anxiety in everyday life.
