Funding for the treatment of orphan diseases is increasing, - Ministry of Health

At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, the First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov reported a significant increase in funding for the treatment of orphan diseases. In 2025, the amount will reach 264.2 million soms, which is 164.2 million soms more than in 2024. These funds are allocated from the High Technology Fund.

As part of improving conditions for patients, the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, where a second building is being constructed, plans to create beds for the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases. The completion of the construction is scheduled for 2026.

Matkerimov also noted that currently, patients with rare diseases are receiving treatment in department No. 24 of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health. Orphan diseases include conditions such as spinal muscular atrophy, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, phenylketonuria, Gaucher's disease, as well as rare hereditary metabolic disorders and other genetic and chronic diseases that occur in a small number of people.
