Experts from the Republican Center for Health Promotion emphasize the risks associated with passive smoking.

In their opinion, smoking remains a personal choice; however, when tobacco smoke is inhaled by others, the situation changes. Passive smoking poses a significant threat to the health of non-smokers.

According to medical research, a non-smoker spending eight hours in a closed space with smokers is equivalent to smoking five cigarettes. Thus, passive smokers expose themselves to a real health threat.

Tobacco smoke negatively affects the mucous membranes and respiratory organs, increasing the risk of developing lung cancer and other diseases.

Children, pregnant women, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to passive smoking. These groups have a higher likelihood of developing colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, and infections, as well as more serious diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and brain tumors. Children exposed to smoke are more likely to get sick at an early age and miss school.

In Kyrgyzstan, smoking is legally prohibited in closed spaces and public places.
