According to available data, there are only 348–349 doctors working in the region. However, geographical conditions, a dispersed population, and a lack of stability in staffing exacerbate the situation.
Currently, various initiatives are being implemented to attract doctors to the region and retain them. Significant attention is being paid to creating comfortable living conditions for young specialists. In particular, solving the housing problem is considered one of the key factors.
Creating conditions for medical workers
- In Naryn — a dormitory with 28 places has been opened at the regional hospital.
- In the Ak-Tal district — the construction of a dormitory for doctors with 8 places has been completed.
- In the At-Bashy district — a dormitory for medical workers was created with the help of a fund that allocated 2 million 800 thousand soms.
- In the Jumgal district — 11 million 48 thousand soms have been allocated for the construction of a dormitory for doctors.
As experts note, if such support continues on a permanent basis, it will help attract young specialists to the region and ensure their long-term presence in the areas.
The overall situation in healthcare in the Naryn region
As of today, the region has:
- 1 regional hospital,
- 1 Family Medicine Center,
- 4 district medical centers,
- 48 family doctor groups,
- 80 feldsher-obstetric points.
- In medical institutions:
- the total number of doctors — 348,
- average medical staff (nurses) — 1,521 people.
“Thus, the demand for medical personnel in the Naryn region remains high. However, improving housing conditions, social guarantees, and material support can realistically reduce the shortage of doctors,” the report emphasizes.
