As part of the new approach at the NCODM, immunological testing is being conducted, which includes determining histocompatibility between the donor and recipient according to the HLA system (antibodies to human leukocytes).

During the testing process, crossmatch studies are conducted to identify antibodies that may interact with the cells of a specific donor, and the PRA — the patient sensitization indicator — is also calculated. These methods are fundamental for modern transplantation, allowing for precise donor matching, predicting rejection risks, and adjusting immunosuppressive therapy.

The implementation of this methodology significantly reduces the frequency of acute and chronic rejections, as well as increases the lifespan of the transplanted organ.

According to the Ministry of Health, the establishment of a genetic testing system is of strategic importance for the country's medicine. It will also help develop a transplantation safety system, reduce dependence on foreign laboratories, and expedite the clinical decision-making process.

The NCODM emphasizes that the introduction of this technology is an important step in the advancement of transplantation in Kyrgyzstan and will be implemented on a long-term basis.
