India expects to receive the submarine within two years; however, the parties do not rule out possible delays due to the "complexity of the project".
Requests for comments from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, as well as from their Indian counterparts, went unanswered.
According to the signed agreement, the submarine cannot be used in combat operations. Sources indicate that it will be used for training Indian sailors, as the country is actively developing its own nuclear submarine production.
The submarine will be in service with the Indian Navy for ten years. The lease agreement also includes maintenance.
