According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), since the beginning of 2025, 2.5 million foreigners have been deported. Of this number, 1.9 million people left voluntarily, taking advantage of the self-deportation program, while 600 thousand migrants were forcibly expelled. This information is reported by RIA Novosti.

“In less than a year, 600 thousand illegal immigrants have been deported. Combined with the 1.9 million who opted for self-deportation, the total number of illegal immigrants who left our country has exceeded 2.5 million,” the ministry stated in a publication on X.

The DHS also noted that these figures are just the beginning of this process.

Earlier in October, Trisha McLaughlin, the assistant secretary of homeland security, stated that since the inauguration of President Donald Trump, law enforcement agencies have detained and expelled more than 500 thousand illegal migrants, while another 1.6 million people left the country on their own. McLaughlin emphasized the intention of U.S. authorities to increase the pace of deportations.

Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized that before his presidency, about 25 million people entered the U.S. illegally and advocated for stricter immigration policies. After his inauguration, he signed an order to declare a state of emergency at the border with Mexico, stating his intention to conduct the largest deportation operation in the country’s history.
