In St. Petersburg, law enforcement officers detained a group of suspects involved in the illegal legalization of 11,000 migrants. This was reported by "Fontanka.ru".

According to the investigation, operatives from the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department, working in conjunction with the police of the Central District, detained six individuals suspected of organizing illegal migration. They used modern information and telecommunications technologies to create a scheme for the legalization of foreign citizens.

The suspects, according to the investigation's version, assisted migrants in illegally obtaining patents, including the use of modern technologies. This is the first such detention in the region related to mass legalization using similar methods.

Migrants were provided with a package of forged documents confirming their employment at companies that, in reality, did not operate. These fictitious documents were submitted to the departments for labor migration, which allowed for the extension of the validity of work patents and temporary residence permits. According to preliminary data, over the past two years, the individuals involved have assisted more than 11,000 illegal migrants.

As a result, the patents obtained in this manner will be annulled. Foreign citizens who sought employment with these fake companies will face deportation from Russia and a ban on re-entering the country.
