Ukrainian drones, according to a source, struck the platform at least four times. The Lukoil platform, which was attacked, is the company's largest asset in the Russian part of the Caspian Sea and has significant oil reserves of approximately 129 million tons. Oil is extracted from several installations and exported via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
Sources from the publication "Hromadske" claim that the strikes were carried out by a unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). According to their data, at least four hits were recorded, leading to the cessation of oil production from 20 wells.
It is worth noting that this is the first attack by Ukraine on an oil production facility in the Caspian Sea. However, the exact date of the strike on the platform has not been disclosed.
Russian authorities have not yet provided comments on this incident.
The V. Filanovsky field was discovered by Lukoil in 2005 and is located in the northern part of the Caspian Sea, approximately 220 kilometers from Astrakhan. According to the company's data, the design production level is six million tons per year, which corresponds to approximately 120,000 barrels per day, as reported by Bloomberg.
