TikTok, the popular short video creation platform, has signed an agreement to sell its division in the United States. This information was disseminated by the Axios portal, citing official documents, as reported by the newspaper "Izvestia".
According to the reached agreement, a long-standing conflict is coming to an end, during which the Chinese company ByteDance was forced to sell the American segment of TikTok to local investors. This decision was made to minimize the concerns of U.S. authorities regarding national security issues.
The deal is expected to be officially completed on January 22, 2026. According to the documents, 45% of the shares of American TikTok will be transferred to a consortium that includes Oracle Corporation, Silver Lake, and MGX.
Another 5% of the shares will go to new investors, 30.1% will remain with companies associated with current ByteDance investors, and 19.9% of the shares will remain with the company itself.
On September 25, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the signing of an agreement between China and the U.S. regarding the sale of the American segment of TikTok. He noted that the deal attracted significant attention from the youth audience. Later, on October 7, Trump revisited his TikTok account and confirmed that this social network would remain available to young users.
