According to health authorities, over the past three years, flu seasons in Mongolia have lasted approximately twice as long, and the number of cases has increased by about 1.5 to 2 times.

This year is notable for the fact that the flu outbreak started earlier and spread more rapidly. This is associated with the simultaneous circulation and dominance in the community of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) strains and influenza A virus (H3N2).

In order to reduce the number of severe cases and complications, vaccination of high-risk groups began on September 12. This process utilizes 300,000 doses of vaccine produced in the Republic of Korea.

The vaccination includes two strains of influenza A virus and two strains of influenza B virus. Authorities note that a higher vaccination coverage, exceeding the figures of the previous three years by 20-40%, has contributed to a decrease in the peak incidence and a reduction in the number of complications during the outbreak.
