The incident occurred on January 14 in the Sikhiu district of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), located in northeastern Thailand.

According to preliminary information, a crane that was being used for the construction of a high-speed railway bridge fell as a train traveling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani passed by. The crane's cable caught on the locomotive, causing it to derail. The second and third cars of the train were affected.

There were approximately 190 passengers on board, some of whom were trapped in the cars. Rescue services worked at the scene, evacuating the injured, including a child who was taken to a medical facility.

Witnesses report that before the accident, they heard a sound resembling a crane falling onto the roof of the train, after which the train suddenly braked and derailed.

According to information from the Bangkok Post, the bridge under construction is part of the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway connecting Bangkok with Nakhon Ratchasima.
