According to Bild, the first groups of special forces and intelligence from Europe are already in Greenland for exercises.

A Hercules military transport aircraft belonging to the Danish army landed in Nuuk—the main airport of the island—last night. It has been reported that there were not only Danish soldiers on board but also representatives of the French armed forces.

The exercises, which are part of Operation "Arctic Resilience," are scheduled from January 15 to 17 and were initiated at Denmark's request. Participants will engage in reconnaissance tasks and analyze ways to enhance security in this strategically important region. It is expected that today the first 13 soldiers from the German intelligence group will join them. Bild reports that the coordination of the operation is being conducted from Copenhagen, without the involvement of NATO and the USA.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that Copenhagen could not persuade the USA to abandon its ideas regarding Greenland after talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance. Nevertheless, Denmark is ready to discuss any requests from Washington regarding the island's security.

Previously, US President Donald Trump had repeatedly expressed interest in Greenland based on national security considerations and stated on Wednesday his desire to protect the island from potential influence from Russia and China. At the same time, the authorities of Denmark and Greenland emphasize that the issue of transferring the island to the USA is not on the agenda.
