The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the First Deputy Secretary of State of the USA, Christopher Landau, signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the reliability of supply in the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth elements, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
Saidov noted that the republic sees the rare metals sector not only as a source of income but also as a basis for "responsible partnership and sustainable long-term development."
As stated on the website of the U.S. Department of State, after signing the document, Landau and Saidov discussed issues of strategic cooperation between the two countries. The main focus was on expanding trade and economic ties, ensuring energy security, and implementing joint projects that would be beneficial for both sides.
The USA hopes to deepen bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan in combating illegal migration, strengthening trade relations, and enhancing interaction within the diplomatic platform C5+1, which includes the United States and five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
