As reported by MiddleAsianNews, a grant agreement has been signed to support the launch of direct flights between Mongolia and the United States.
On February 5, 2026, a ceremonial signing of the grant agreement for Mongolia took place with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), marking the first step towards technical assistance for the implementation of direct flights.


This agreement was signed by the Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation of Mongolia, Ganbold Gochoo, and Thomas Hardy, the acting administrator of USTDA from the United States. The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Battsereg Batmunkh, and Ambassador Batbayar Olziidelger.


According to the terms of the agreement, a technical assistance project in the field of aviation safety will be implemented for a total of $2.6 million, of which $2.2 million will be provided by USTDA, and the remaining $390,000 will be allocated by the consulting group The Wicks Group Consulting.

During the signing, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsereg, emphasized that this agreement significantly deepens cooperation in the field of aviation and holds strategic importance for the political and economic relations between Mongolia and the USA. It will also contribute to the development of trade, tourism, and intercultural ties. Battsereg noted that cooperation in civil aviation is an important aspect of the strategic partnership of the "third neighbor" between the two countries.
