Scientists report the absence of sunspots for the first time in several years

At the moment, the star appears as a perfect disk without any visible features, as scientists note in their report.

The last observation of a completely spot-free sun occurred on December 11, 2021. Experts point out that this complete absence of spots is associated with periods of minimal solar activity, known as solar minimum.

Additionally, the flare activity index has reached zero for the first time since 2024.

Sunspots are an important element of the Sun's surface and are directly related to its magnetic field. Dark areas form in places with a high concentration of magnetic flux. Since the energy of solar flares arises from magnetic fields, the number and area of sunspots are closely linked to the level of solar activity.
