As reported by the publication "Meduza," citing the TV channel "Russia," Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Estonia is in close proximity to Russia. "We do not threaten anyone; however, if nuclear weapons aimed at our country are deployed on the territory of Estonia, we will be forced to take retaliatory measures," he stated.

Peskov also added that Moscow will carry out its actions based on the necessity of ensuring security, including a policy of nuclear deterrence.

Earlier, Estonia's Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced the country's readiness to host NATO nuclear weapons if such a decision is made by the alliance. Estonia's Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur also noted the possibility of deploying British fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Estonia does not possess its own nuclear weapons.

According to Bloomberg, several European countries are considering the possibility of creating their own nuclear deterrent system in light of growing doubts about the reliability of the U.S. as a military partner. Currently, Europe's security is largely ensured by the American "nuclear umbrella." The United Kingdom and France possess nuclear weapons.
