“The arrested Mongolian ‘spy’ in Zambales is not connected to China,” says the embassy

A cadet from a flight school in Mongolia was detained in Zambales for failing to notify about his aviation training in China.

According to a series of reports by MiddleAsianNews, the Chinese embassy reported on Sunday that the arrested citizen of Mongolia in Zambales province has no connection to the Chinese government.

The deputy press secretary of the embassy stated: “According to our information, this citizen is not connected to China.”

He also urged against making premature conclusions while the investigation is ongoing, noting that “preliminary judgments in this case before all circumstances are fully clarified are erroneous and contradict the principles of objectivity.”

The Philippine authorities have begun the process of deporting the citizen of Mongolia.

According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the arrested individual is a pilot of the People’s Liberation Army of China and was undergoing training at the Air Force Aviation University of the PLA.

Earlier, National Security Advisor Eduardo Año provided details about the alleged military background of the detainee.

The foreign citizen is currently in the immigration bureau's detention facility while the investigation continues.

Immigration authorities reported that he denies all charges against him.
