The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on Azizjon Mamashoev, a citizen of Uzbekistan. According to U.S. authorities, he is connected with Russian hackers and is suspected of cybercrime. A press release regarding the update of the sanctions list has been posted on the OFAC website.
In the official statement, personal details of Mamashoev were also provided, including passport information. He was born in 1987 and is a citizen of Uzbekistan.
Additionally, the company Advance Security Solutions, associated with Mamashoev, has also been added to the SDN sanctions list. According to information on the OFAC website, this enterprise was registered in Dubai in 2025, and its address is listed as being in Tashkent.
The company is involved in offensive cybersecurity and, in particular, acts as a broker for exploits, offering rewards for information about software vulnerabilities developed in the U.S.
Besides Mamashoev, Russians Oleg Kucherov, Marina Vasanovich, and Sergey Zelenyuk have also been sanctioned. The latter, according to authorities, organized cyberattacks on U.S. government institutions and medical facilities using malware. The document states that all these individuals, including Mamashoev, provided support to Zelenyuk and his organization.
It is important to note that the SDN list is the main blacklist of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which includes individuals and entities subject to strict restrictions. The assets of those who fall under sanctions are frozen, and U.S. citizens are prohibited from dealing with them.
In November of last year, it became known that the anti-Russian sanctions also affected the company Datavice, registered in Uzbekistan. U.S. authorities point to its possible involvement in supporting Russian cybercrime or infrastructure.
