Seismic activity has been recorded near one of the most secretive military bases in the U.S., known as "Zone 52," where nuclear tests were previously conducted. According to the Daily Mail, the earthquakes occurred simultaneously with the start of a military operation against Iran organized by the U.S. and Israel.

The publication notes that this test site in Nevada, which also includes the famous "Zone 51," has registered numerous underground tremors. Although the newspaper suggests that these earthquakes may be the result of normal geological activity in the region.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), 16 earthquakes with a magnitude above 2.5 occurred in this area over the past 24 hours. Over the week, seismologists recorded more than a hundred tremors with magnitudes ranging from 1.0 to over 3.0. Interestingly, the onset of this seismic activity coincided with the U.S. and Israel's attack on Iran, which took place at the end of February 2026.

On February 28, Israel and the U.S. conducted strikes against Iran. Donald Trump announced his intentions to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

In response, Iran began launching strikes on Israeli territory and other countries in the Middle East where U.S. military facilities are located. Strikes were carried out against Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai (UAE), as well as Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

As a result of the U.S.-Israeli operation, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. His wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh, died from injuries sustained in the attack.

Trump also stated that the military operation in Iran would take about four weeks. In response to the actions of the U.S. and Israel, Iran declared jihad and stated that there would be no negotiations.

The conflict in the Middle East has global consequences, including for Kyrgyzstan. Thousands of tourists are stranded in the UAE as a result of the conflict. Contact numbers for embassies and consulates for Kyrgyz citizens abroad can be found here.
