The question of the possibility of a ground operation was raised by Trump in an interview, where he stated that other presidents often avoid discussing the deployment of troops, while he is open to such a scenario. "I am not afraid to send in the military. I’m not saying that our troops won’t be there. Although, perhaps, they may not be needed," he added.

In his subsequent address to the nation, Trump stated that the military operation against Iran was initially planned to last from four to five weeks, but the U.S. is prepared to continue it longer if necessary. He also dismissed rumors that he might get bored with the war, claiming: "I am never bored." The president added that the operation to eliminate Iranian military leadership lasted only about an hour, although it was initially expected to take a month, and assured that the U.S. is "ahead of schedule."

Trump characterized the actions against Iran as "the last and best chance" to eliminate threats posed by a "sick and sinister regime." Among the main goals of Washington, he mentioned the destruction of Iran's missile capabilities and navy, adding that the U.S. has already sunk 10 Iranian vessels.

The operation, initiated by the U.S. and Israel, began on February 28 after unsuccessful negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program. As a result of the strike, key Iranian leaders were eliminated, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammad Pakpour, as well as other high-ranking officials. It was later reported that Khamenei's wife had died.

In response, Iran began attacks on American bases in allied countries in the Middle East, as well as on civilian facilities that were hit in Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
