The official Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia reports on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Batzetsgeg Batmunkh and her Swedish counterpart Maria Malmör Stenergard.

According to information from the Mongolian agency, this document establishes a regular dialogue to strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate high-level visits.

During the official negotiations, the ministers discussed opportunities for further development of Mongolian-Swedish relations, which have lasted for more than 60 years, emphasizing cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, education, culture, social protection, and tourism.

The ministers discussed the importance of organizing mutual high-profile visits, maintaining a continuous political dialogue, strengthening the legal framework, and deepening human connections. Special attention was paid to the necessity of concluding agreements regarding social protection for over 12,000 Mongolians living in Sweden, as well as simplifying visa conditions.

The Mongolian side also emphasized the importance of increasing trade turnover with neighboring countries in the context of stimulating economic growth and diversifying exports. In particular, it was proposed to establish supplies of agricultural products to Sweden, considering the similar climatic conditions, as well as to expand cooperation with Swedish companies that are leaders in technology.

The parties expressed their intention to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture, as well as to increase the number of Mongolian students studying in Sweden. Joint research on history and culture, support for Mongolian studies, and cooperation in promoting both countries were also proposed.

The ministers exchanged views on current international and regional issues, confirming their readiness to cooperate within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations. In this regard, Batzetsgeg expressed hope for the participation of high-ranking Swedish representatives in international events planned for this year in Ulaanbaatar, including the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue and the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. She also invited Malmör Stenergard to visit Mongolia at her convenience, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
