NATO forces deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean shot down a ballistic missile launched from Iran that was crossing Turkish airspace. This was reported in a statement from the country's Ministry of Defense published in the media.

According to the ministry, the missile debris fell on uninhabited territory in Gaziantep, and no one was injured as a result of the incident.

At the same time, on February 28, Israel and the United States conducted strikes on targets in Iran. Donald Trump announced the goal of destroying the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian response was swift: attacks began on Israeli and American military facilities in Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai (UAE), as well as Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

As a result of the U.S.-Israeli operations, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. His wife, Mansure Khodjasteh, later died from her injuries.

Trump also stated that the military operation would last about four weeks. In response, Iran declared jihad against the U.S. and Israel, noting that there would be no negotiations.

The escalation of the situation in the Middle East has global repercussions, including for Kyrgyzstan. Thousands of tourists are stranded in the UAE due to the conflict. Phone numbers for embassies and consulates for Kyrgyz citizens abroad can be found here.
