According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Defense, Iranian ballistic missiles that entered the country's airspace were successfully intercepted by NATO forces. Debris fell in uninhabited areas near Gaziantep, with no casualties or injuries reported.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan commented on the incident, stating:

“Despite our sincere warnings, provocative actions threatening the friendship between our countries continue. We must not make mistakes that could harm our centuries-old relations of good neighborliness. I urge caution on this matter,” he noted.

In response to the incident, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an explanation.

Later, following the incident, a phone conversation took place between Erdoğan and Iranian President Pezeshkian.

Erdoğan emphasized that any violations of airspace are unacceptable. “We will take all necessary measures for protection,” he added. In response, Pezeshkian stated that the missiles were not launched from Iranian territory and proposed the creation of a joint commission to investigate the incident.

On the morning of February 28, Israel and the U.S. struck Iran. Donald Trump announced the intention to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

In response to these actions, Iran began striking territories in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries where U.S. military bases and facilities are located. Strikes were recorded in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai (UAE), as well as in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

As a result of the U.S.-Israeli attack, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, and his wife, Mansoureh Khodjasteh, died from her injuries.

Trump stated that the military operation in Iran would last about four weeks. Iran, in turn, declared jihad against the U.S. and Israel, emphasizing that there would be no negotiations.

The conflict in the Middle East also affects other countries, including Kyrgyzstan. Currently, thousands of tourists are stranded in the UAE due to the escalation of the situation. Contact numbers for embassies and consulates for Kyrgyz citizens abroad can be found here.
