Turkey will deploy Patriot air defense systems in the east of the country due to escalation in the Middle East

According to an official statement, this decision is aimed at strengthening the protection of Turkey's airspace and securing its borders. It is also emphasized that consultations with NATO allies are currently ongoing.

In addition to national measures, NATO is enhancing its air and missile defense system. “Our country <...> will continue to analyze the ongoing events in close cooperation with NATO and allies, as well as take steps to maintain peace and stability in the region,” noted the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

This statement was made shortly after a second ballistic missile was intercepted over Turkey, launched as part of the conflict between the USA and Israel against Iran, according to Anadolu (the first was shot down on March 4 over the Mediterranean Sea). Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that any violations of Turkey's airspace "cannot be justified." In turn, Iran denied the information about launching missiles towards Turkey.
