During the meeting of the Turkish National Security Council, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, key regional issues were addressed. The final statement emphasized that stability in Iran is crucial for the security of the entire region. This issue was one of the main topics on the agenda, TRT reported.
The Council also analyzed recent events in Iran and underscored that the stability of this country is vital for ensuring security in the region. Additionally, the current situation in Gaza and potential prospects for achieving a peace agreement were discussed.
Ankara expressed its readiness to take the initiative to rebuild Gaza in collaboration with international partners, emphasizing the need for humanitarian assistance and the desire to establish sustainable peace.
The Council also reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and expressed its intention to continue efforts to ensure security and stability for the Syrian people.
During the meeting, issues related to the fight against terrorism, the current situation in Ukraine, and the necessity of maintaining stability in the Black Sea were discussed. The statement emphasized that Turkey will continue its multilateral efforts in 2026 to maintain peace and stability in the vast region encompassing neighboring countries, as well as Asia, Africa, and Europe.
