The meeting discussed the prospects for deepening cooperation between the two organizations and emphasized long-term partnership relations. Gasan noted the significant support from Montella in the establishment of TURKPA and pointed out that the foundations laid over ten years ago serve as a solid base for future development.
One of the main topics of the meeting was the possibility of renewing the experience exchange program for the staff of the TURKPA International Secretariat in Copenhagen. Gasan recalled the positive experience accumulated in 2010-2011 and expressed readiness to start a new program.
The agenda also included the situation in the region and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting peace. The Secretary General of TURKPA noted the positive changes following the end of the conflict in Karabakh and emphasized that the successes in peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia create opportunities for activating cooperation between TURKPA and the OSCE PA.
Gasan confirmed TURKPA's desire to obtain observer status in the OSCE PA and expressed hope for support from Montella. The Secretary General of the OSCE PA, in turn, spoke positively about TURKPA's intentions to enhance cooperation and confirmed readiness to assist in the process of obtaining the status. He also noted that strengthening bilateral relations would contribute to regional stability.
Montella accepted the invitation to visit Baku and the TURKPA headquarters, as well as supported the idea of organizing a short-term internship for the secretariat staff.
Representatives from the International Secretariats of both organizations participated in the discussion.
