
According to UKMTO, a projectile hit the starboard side of the tanker, which caused the fire. The crew of the vessel is reported to be safe, and no negative environmental consequences have been recorded. Dubai authorities also confirmed that the fire was contained and extinguished, adding that the strike was carried out using drones.
The Kuwaiti agency KUNA reported that during the attack, which was allegedly organized by Iran, the tanker was fully loaded and anchored. Its maximum carrying capacity is nearly 320,000 tons of oil. The agency noted that this "malicious" attack damaged the hull of the vessel and created a risk of an oil spill.
On the same night, another incident occurred in Dubai — debris from a downed missile fell on an abandoned building in the Al-Bada area, resulting in four people sustaining minor injuries, local authorities reported.
Not only the UAE but also other countries reported incidents that night. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense reported attempts to repel "hostile and drone attacks." In Bahrain, local authorities activated sirens to warn of a potential threat.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense reported intercepting eight ballistic missiles heading towards the country. Additionally, UKMTO recorded two projectiles falling near a container ship 40 kilometers from the port of Ras Tanura in Saudi Arabia.
