After the interview with Razia Umetova, a resident of Manas, the State National Security Committee initiated an investigation. In a conversation with the BBC, she spoke about her son, who went to Syria, where an armed conflict has erupted.

According to the GKNB, this concerns 33-year-old Nurlan Umetov, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan. "He previously had legal issues and was one of the leaders of a local youth group. Later, Nurlan went to Russia for work, where in 2014-2015 he became a victim of recruitment by representatives of the terrorist organization 'Katiba Imam al-Bukhari' (KIB). He then went to Turkey, from where he was transported to the Syrian province of Idlib and joined this group. He underwent training among the terrorists and participated in combat operations against the Syrian government forces, as a result of which he was killed. Since 2016, he has not been in contact with relatives and acquaintances in Kyrgyzstan. For participating in the conflict abroad, Nurlan Umetov has been placed on the international wanted list," reports the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic.
