A tragic incident occurred at the pre-Christmas fair in the city of Saint-Anne, located in French Guadeloupe: an unknown driver ran over people. According to Radio Caribeès Internationale Guadeloupe, the number of fatalities is 10, and the number of injured is 9, including children.
The car crashed into the crowd at the moment when a festive event was taking place.
Deputy Prefect Jean-François Moniot reported that three of the injured, including a 10-year-old boy, are in critical condition.
The incident took place at the Shelcher Square, near the town hall and the church. Medical services arrived at the scene to provide assistance, as well as law enforcement agencies, which are investigating the causes of the incident. The police confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
As of now, there are 10 confirmed dead and 9 injured.
