According to U.S. authorities, Beishekeev arrived in the U.S. using the CBP One app and obtained a commercial driver's license (CDL) from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. His arrest was made by Indiana police in cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the 287(g) program.

Currently, Beishekeev is in custody at the ICE detention center in Fort Wayne and is awaiting a decision on his immigration case. U.S. officials also state that such tragedies could have been prevented with stricter oversight of driver's license issuance.
