The Ministry of Energy of Cuba reported: "The national electricity system is completely shut down. Protocols for its restoration are currently being developed."
It is worth noting that this is the second blackout in the country in the past week. On March 16, Cuba, which is under an effective oil blockade by the U.S., also faced a complete shutdown that affected around ten million residents.
Additionally, a similar complete blackout in Cuba occurred in the fall of 2024, when the power outage happened twice in less than a day.
