In his Facebook post, he also reminded that the Socialist International and the Progressive Alliance have already condemned this case, qualifying it as political, while the European Parliament, in its resolution on EPCA, explicitly pointed out the use of the process to take revenge on opponents of the authorities.
Atambayev also expressed outrage over the decision of Judge Leila Baidaeva, who, while in office, not only confirmed the repressive measures but also increased the prison term for Irina Karamushkina. He characterized this decision as cruel towards a female politician, noting that all these actions are taking place just a month before the start of the election campaign, which essentially cuts off candidates like Irina Karamushkina and Ravshan Jeenbekov from the opportunity to participate in the elections.
It is worth reminding that on October 23, the Bishkek City Court issued a verdict that partially changed the decision of the previous instance, tightening the sentence for Irina Karamushkina.
