In major cities of the country, the construction of waste processing plants is planned. This was reported by Daiyrbek Orunbekov, who holds the position of head of the information policy service of the presidential administration, on his Facebook page.

According to him, the landfill in Bishkek, which has existed for nearly half a century since the Soviet era, is overflowing, often catches fire, and causes serious environmental problems.

“By the president's directive, work has begun to address this problem. First, the fires at the landfill were extinguished, then the landfill was covered with soil, reclamation was carried out, and trees and shrubs were planted. The next task is to build a waste processing plant, and I hope this work will be completed soon — the enterprise will be officially opened,” Orunbekov noted.
He also reported that about 1,000 tons of garbage is collected daily in the capital.
“The new plant is capable of processing up to 1,200 tons of waste per day and generating 30 megawatts of electricity. The residues from waste incineration are used to produce building materials. Thus, Bishkek has a modern plant that not only disposes of waste but also turns its residues into useful materials. Such projects will be implemented in other major cities as well,” Daiyrbek Orunbekov concluded.
