In response to widespread rumors about mass marriages between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and China, the GKNB presented official data. Since 2020, a total of 129 such marriages have been registered in the country, with the largest number concluded between citizens belonging to the ethnic groups of Uighurs, Dungans, and other peoples living on both sides of the border.
As for marriages between representatives of the Kyrgyz titular nation and ethnic Chinese (Han), their number is 44. Moreover, most of these families subsequently moved to China for permanent residence.
The GKNB emphasizes that these marriage practices do not affect the demographic situation in Kyrgyzstan.
Additionally, the agency reminded of the possibility of criminal liability for spreading information that incites racial, ethnic, national, religious, or interregional hatred.
