In Kozhomkul, located in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region, the local coal depot has lowered coal prices following appeals from citizens, reports Turmush correspondent.

Residents expressed dissatisfaction with the unauthorized price increase of 200 soms for coal implemented by the depot.

“Although the coal depot formally belongs to the rural municipality of Kozhomkul, it is in close proximity to the village of Frunze, which belongs to the Manas rural municipality. Residents of Frunze, Studenchestvo, and other villages purchase coal here. The government has set a maximum price for Kyrgyz coal at 6000 soms. However, the local depot added 200 soms to this cost without approval. We filed a complaint with the village administration. Additionally, some 'Porter' trucks that deliver coal to villages within a distance of 1-2 km are inflating prices: for a delivery that requires no more than 50 soms for fuel, they charge 1000 soms. Who controls these rates? As a result, including delivery, one ton of coal costs us 7000 soms,” residents shared their problem.

In the village administration of Kozhomkul, it was reported that negotiations with the depot management resulted in a reduction of the coal price from 6200 soms to 6000 soms.

“Recently, we held negotiations on this issue. As a result, we reached an agreement to sell coal at a price of 6000 soms per ton. However, the seller stated that they had contacted 'Kyrgyzkomur' requesting a price increase, arguing that transportation costs for delivering coal to the depot had risen. We clarified to them that without official price approval, they do not have the right to raise the cost above 6000 soms,” the statement noted.
