A Monument to the Poet Alisher Navoi Installed in Osh

The festive opening of the monument to the outstanding poet Alisher Navoi took place in the city of Osh, according to information from the local mayor's office.

Attending the ceremony were the mayor of Osh, Jenishbek Toktorbaev, the presidential representative in the region Amanakan Kenjebayev, the chairman of the Osh city council Bolot Bayetov, the deputy minister of culture, information, and youth policy Askarala Madaminov, as well as a delegation from Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the governor of Andijan region Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov, along with local residents.

The monument is located at the corner of Kurmanjan Datka and Alisher Navoi streets. Surrounding it, landscaping work has been carried out. All expenses were covered by the local budget.

Along with the opening of the monument, a complete reconstruction and commissioning of Alisher Navoi Street, which stretches from G. Aitiev Street to Alymbek Datka Street, has been completed. The road has six lanes and a length of 2.8 km, with a width of 25-26 meters.

“In Osh, there is already a park, a school, and a street named after Alisher Navoi. The opening of the monument emphasizes the friendship and brotherhood of the two peoples and demonstrates respect for culture,” noted the mayor's office.
