The results show that about 27% of Kyrgyz citizens start preparing for the holiday only a week before the New Year, while 24% do so just a few days in advance.
Only 8% of respondents plan their purchases in advance, setting them aside for one or two months. Women tend to shop at the last minute more than men, who prefer online shopping.

In the regions of Kyrgyzstan, online shopping is particularly popular due to the limited selection in local stores: nearly 50% of respondents from the provinces noted that the internet helps them compensate for the lack of goods. In Bishkek, the main advantages of online shopping are time savings and convenience of delivery.
The study also showed that in Kyrgyzstan, gifts are most often given to children or on major holidays.
Almost a third of respondents admitted that they do not exchange gifts at the workplace, and the "Secret Santa" format remains uncommon.
When choosing gifts, most Kyrgyz citizens focus on the quality and composition of the products, followed by their cost. More than 40% of participants compare prices before making a purchase, and about 25% wait for sales or free delivery.
At the same time, budgets for New Year gifts remain moderate: most people plan to spend between 800 and 3,000 soms on all purchases.
The authors of the study emphasize that online shopping helps reduce stress levels in the lead-up to the New Year, simplifies the selection process, and leaves more time for family traditions and celebrations.
