The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has identified the priority theme for 2026 — "At Home on the Internet: Know Your Rights, Shop Mindfully." This decision was made at a meeting of the EEC board, where a recommendation for the Union countries was approved.

This theme selection will allow for a focus on the issues arising in the relationships between consumers and entrepreneurs in the digital environment, as well as promote the strengthening of trust between them.

As part of the prepared program for 2026, the EAEU states plan to organize informational and educational events that will help raise citizens' awareness of their rights on the internet, as well as how to properly choose goods and services in the virtual environment. This initiative will reach all residents of the five member countries of the Union.

According to a study conducted by the commission, 95% of the population in the Union countries makes purchases online, and 80% of them buy not only goods but also services. However, issues with consumer rights enforcement in e-commerce are becoming increasingly relevant: every second resident of the EAEU countries has faced such violations.

The idea to focus on this theme in 2026 was proposed by the Advisory Committee on Consumer Rights Protection based on the results of a public vote initiated by the EEC.
