On January 5, a court in Paris convicted ten individuals for cyberbullying and spreading false rumors about France's First Lady Brigitte Macron. As a result, eight men and two women were sentenced to terms of up to eight months in prison, although the execution of the sentence was postponed. This information was reported by Reuters.

The convicted individuals were found guilty of sexist and transphobic insults related to a series of publications and videos claiming that Brigitte Macron was actually born a man and is the brother of Jean-Michel Trogneux. Additionally, the age difference between the spouses also became a subject of mockery, which had not previously sparked public discussion but has recently become a topic of legal proceedings.

In an interview with TF1 yesterday, Brigitte Macron expressed hope that her fight against cyberbullying would inspire others. She noted that the online attacks against her seem endless and even include instances of hacking into her tax office and altering personal information. "My birth certificate is not a trivial matter. It is the parents who report their child, determining their gender," the First Lady commented on the offensive remarks directed at her.
