In Kyrgyzstan, nearly half of the officially registered unemployed are women

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, last year women made up 46.3% of the total number of officially registered unemployed in Kyrgyzstan. The registered unemployment rate among the working-age population reached 1.4%.

The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration reports that in 2025, 58,600 citizens turned to employment services, of which 39,800 were registered as unemployed.
The highest number of registered unemployed is observed in the Osh region, where there are 10,523 people, and in the Jalal-Abad region — 10,376 people.
In the Batken region, 5,795 unemployed are registered, in the Talas region — 2,319, in the Issyk-Kul region — 1,842, in the Chui region — 1,343, and in the Naryn region — 1,307.

In major cities such as Bishkek and Osh, there are 3,144 and 3,192 unemployed registered, respectively.
Compared to 2024, the unemployment rate in the country has decreased by 26%.
In 2024, 91,600 unemployed were registered in Kyrgyzstan, of which 64,600 were officially accounted for.

It is also worth noting that in recent years, the number of unemployed has been increasing due to the return of citizens to their homeland in connection with the tightening of working conditions for labor migrants in Russia.
