In Georgia, the prosecutor's office has reached a procedural agreement with Irakli Garibashvili, the former Prime Minister of the country. According to the terms of the agreement, he is to serve five years in prison and pay a fine of 1 million lari, as reported by DW.

Garibashvili could have received a sentence of 9 to 12 years; however, the conclusion of the agreement significantly reduced his punishment. Additionally, during a search of his home, 6.5 million dollars were seized.

At the end of October, the prosecutor's office charged him with legalizing particularly large illegal income. The investigation claims that from 2019 to 2024, while serving as Minister of Defense and later as Prime Minister, Garibashvili engaged in entrepreneurial activities and disguised the income from them as gifts from his relatives. He also registered property in the name of his close ones.

Irakli Garibashvili is a member of the ruling party "Georgian Dream," which was founded in 2011. At one time, he held the position of chairman of this party.
