The Democratic Party (DP) in parliament, or the opposition, has initiated a motion for the resignation of Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav.

The DP has announced that it has begun collecting signatures from fellow legislators under an official petition demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav's government.

The main reason for this initiative is the recent appointment of deputy ministers to key positions, which the DP views as a departure from promises of strict austerity, creating an additional burden on the state budget.

The chairman of the DP and its parliamentary faction, Tsogtgerel Odon, has started collecting signatures among deputies on the party's official forms.

The Democratic Party holds 42 seats in the Parliament of Mongolia. According to the Constitution, if more than 32 deputies sign in favor of the Prime Minister's resignation, this statement must be considered by the Great State Khural within three days.

According to official sources, "more than 10 members of the Democratic Party have already signed an appeal to Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav requesting his resignation. This week, it is planned to collect signatures from 32 deputies, as stipulated by the Constitution."

Thus, the Democratic Party is close to achieving the necessary number of signatures to submit a resignation request for the Prime Minister. At the same time, a complex question arises regarding the positions of the ruling party MPP and the KHUUN party, which are jointly in power.

It is likely that MPP members, including Sainzorig Purevjav, who previously initiated the collection of signatures, will support the Democratic Party's demands.

In October, parliamentarian Sainzorig Purevjav announced the start of collecting signatures from fellow deputies for an official petition demanding the resignation of the government under the pretext of constitutional violations, ineffective economic management, and misinformation of the population.

Speaking to journalists on October 6, Sainzorig noted: "This government undermines parliamentary governance, violates the Constitution, and leads to chaos in society. The economic situation is deteriorating, export revenues are decreasing, and foreign currency reserves are at a negative level."

Article 43 of the Constitution:

1. If no less than a quarter of the members of the Great State Khural officially propose the resignation of the Prime Minister, discussions must begin within three days, and a decision must be made within ten days. If a majority of members support this proposal, the resolution for resignation will be considered approved, and a new Prime Minister will be appointed within thirty days.

2. In the event of the Prime Minister's resignation, all members of the government must resign.
