At a press conference in Bishkek on January 15, Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev stated that the majority of Kyrgyz citizens had already left Iran during the conflict in the summer.

Currently, about 20 citizens remain in Iran, including diplomats and 12 women who married locally. The embassy is in constant contact with them. The minister noted that although the situation in the country has slightly improved, Kyrgyzstan is ready to organize their evacuation if necessary. At present, there is no internet in Iran; however, communication is maintained through other means, and there are no grounds for concern.

It is worth noting that mass protests in Iran began on December 28. They started at the central market in Tehran, where shop owners closed their stores in protest against the sharp rise in prices and hyperinflation.

According to Euronews, 2,571 people have died as a result of clashes between protesters and security forces.

U.S. President Donald Trump is considering military action against Iran in response to the brutal suppression of protests. In turn, Iranian authorities threaten to strike American bases in the region in case of aggression from the U.S.
